There are new details and renderings emerging about downtown Austin’s slick new high-rise office building proposed for Block 23.
The ~400 ft. tower – reported to be somewhere between 28 and 31 floors – is the office component of Trammell Crow‘s 1.7-million SF mixed-use redevelopment of the decommissioned Thomas C. Green Water Treatment Plant. The residential component at Block 1 is currently under construction, with another residential tower and hotel still in the planning stages.
According to the ABJ, the general contractor plans to erect 2 tower cranes on the site in April 2015. Furthermore, the ABJ reports that “rumors have been circulating within the real estate community that Google Inc. may be a major tenant and that the purported commitment from Google prompted Trammell Crow to move ahead with the office component.“
The project’s architect, Gensler, has also recently posted several updated renderings on its website. This is the first new set of images that we have seen since about 2011 when a marketing flyer was posted by the developers.
CBRE is marketing the available office space at 500 West 2nd Street on their website. It shows a total of 469,327 SF of space and lists the “Date Available” as November 2017. It is unclear whether or not that date also represents the overall project’s completion.
