Mueller Construction Update – January 2017 (PHOTOS)
Mueller is the master-planned redevelopment of the former Robert Mueller Municipal Airport just 3 miles from downtown. Under construction since 2004, Mueller has been a hotbed of construction activity for some time now. Here’s an update of the (non-single-family residential) projects underway as of January 2017:
Austin’s latest Alamo Drafthouse cinema is taking shape in the Aldrich Street activity center. It’s scheduled to open in “early 2017”.
Next door, the mixed-use “Diamond Building” will have restaurants and retail on the ground floor and 55,000 square feet of office space above. Click Here to see a live webcam of the project’s construction.
Overture Mueller is a 201-unit”active adult” apartment complex for renters 55+. 30 of the units will be reserved for Mueller’s Affordable Homes Program. It is being developed and built by Greystar.
Next door, AMLI Residential is building a 318-unit project, designed by Page.
At the corner of 51st Street and Aldrich Street, DMA Development is building Aldrich51, a 240-unit affordable housing community. Read our previous coverage about the Aldrich51 project here.
Meanwhile, Berkman Drive is being upgraded to include a travel lane, parallel parking lane, and a protected bicycle lane in each direction. There will also be a median to separate the northbound and southbound lanes.
