Ward Tisdale Stepping Down from Leading Real Estate Council of Austin

Real Estate Council of Austin (RECA) leader Ward Tisdale will be stepping down as president of that organization.

Tisdale, who has led RECA since 2013, submitted his resignation in mid-November, the Austin Business Journal reported. During his time at the helm of RECA, he took a strong stance on several high-profile issues, from delays in the CodeNEXT process to Austin’s challenges with affordable housing.

recalogoRECA is an advocacy organization for Central Texas’s commercial real estate industry, and has about 2,000 members. The organization advocates for a range of issues related to Austin real estate that also more broadly impact the region’s economic development, including transportation and mobility, sustainable building practices, and affordability.

Jed Buie, one of RECA’s board members, told the Austin Business Journal that RECA will immediately start the search for a successor, and that he doesn’t anticipate any interruption in planned activities.

“I’m sad to see him go,” Buie told the ABJ. “And now we have an important decision ahead of us.”
