Downtown Austin Alliance Seeking Austin Restaurateur for New Eatery at Republic Square

Republic Square Park is currently going through renovations, and the Downtown Austin Alliance – one of the entities behind the park’s transformation – is seeking a restaurant operator for the park once it’s reopened. The restaurant would provide daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

The Downtown Alliance, Austin Parks Foundation, and the City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department are leading the Republic Square renovations, which are due to wrap up in late 2017. The square is one of Austin’s three historic squares, and is in the heart of downtown Austin.

The renovation will help turn Republic Square into a community gathering space, the DAA says, which will continue to host the SFC Farmers Market and seasonal film screenings, among other events. The counter-service restaurant will be part of that renovation.

“The Downtown Austin Alliance, Austin Parks Foundation, and City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department are excited to revitalize Republic Square and bring it back to its glory as a cherished communal place in the heart of our city,” Dewitt Peart, president and CEO of the Downtown Alliance, said in a statement. “The community’s vision and subsequent master plan called for daily activation of the park, including the need for a food vendor, so we are thrilled to have the chance to provide park users with what Austin is known for—amazing food and beautiful green spaces.”

The Downtown Alliance has contracted with CBRE to manage the food vendor solicitation and selection process. All responses are due to CBRE by Feb 10, 2017.
