7-Story Student Housing Project “The Ruckus” Breaks Ground (PHOTOS)
A new boutique living option is coming to west campus as Austin-based developer Lincoln Ventures moves forward with The Ruckus, located at 2502 Nueces St.
The Class-A student-housing development will be located just two blocks west of the University of Texas campus and will feature 45 units in a seven-story building. To better accommodate students the units will feature a mix of two to five bedrooms which will total approximately 160 beds.
David Kanne, president of Lincoln Ventures, said in a statement that the project is meant to be “disruptive and trend-setting in the student-housing industry.” He added, “We want The Ruckus to have attitude and reflect the personality of today’s students.”
To help achieve that trend-setting goal, The Ruckus will feature amenities that include a cyber café, gaming area, sky gym/fitness center and terrace, 24-hour study lounges and conference rooms, around-the-clock concierge, and coffee bar. To help give students plenty of transportation options the development will feature secure parking, a bike-sharing program, and car-sharing options.
Lincoln Ventures broke ground on the project earlier this summer and plans to open the building in August 2017, in time for the school year. The project was designed by Mark Hart Architecture.
