Work Continues at Hotel ZaZa Despite Groundwater Challenges

A long-delayed downtown project has encountered another unforeseen construction challenge.

Several news outlets reported earlier this week that groundwater is causing problems for excavation crews working on the building’s foundation at 401 Guadalupe Street.

Originally announced in 2012, the 24-story hotel and residential project’s site permit was approved in July of 2014. Since then, there has been little noticeable work on the site after demolition and minor site clearing was performed. Increased activity on the site recently suggests that the project is back on track.
