Project Update: The Millennium Rainey (PHOTOS)

It’s been nearly two years since 13 structures were approved for demolition on Rainey Street to make way for the Millennium Rainey project – a mid-rise “luxury” multifamily project from Houston-based developer Dinerstein. Construction has been underway ever since, and the project has changed the look and feel of Rainey Street district forever. (Read our previous coverage here and here)

BuildingATX took a look at the current state of the project as of July 2015:

The Millennium Rainey project rises on Rainey Street, shown in this photo nestled between the nearly completed Hotel Van Zandt (left) and the Fairmont Austin Hotel (tower cranes on the right).

The structure is rising 8 stories above the corner of Driskill and Rainey Streets, the location of the original Lustre Pearl bar.

While the marketing website for the project lists October 2015 as the completion date, signage at the construction site indicates that the project will be completed in “early 2016.” Stay tuned to BuildingATX as we follow the progress of this project and all of the other development on Rainey Street.
