Downtown Construction Update – March 2015 (PHOTOS)

Construction activity around downtown Austin doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon, and sometimes it can be hard to keep track of all the projects that are underway. BuildingATX is here to help! Here’s a snapshot of what’s happening downtown as of March 2015:

Aspen Heights Austin Construction

The 22-story Aspen heights project will soon rise at this site at the corner of 8th & Nueces.

St. David's Foundation headquarters construction

At 13th & San Antonio, the new St. David’s Foundation headquarters building makes progress.

Seaholm Residences construction

As the structure continues to rise, glazing is being installed on the lower floors of the Seaholm Residences building.

Meanwhile, the low-rise retail component of the Seaholm redevelopment looks to be wrapping up.

Northshore Residences construction

Next door, the NorthShore Residences building continues to rise…

… and a sign advertises for Northshore and the recently-announced Austin Proper Hotel.

2nd Street Bridge Austin construction

The new 2nd Street bridge spanning Shoal Creek is coming along nicely.

Google recently announced they were leasing about 200,000 SF of the new office tower at 500 West 2nd…

… but they won’t be moving in very soon. Construction crews must build “down” before they build “up”.

5th+Colorado Austin construction

Another office building at 5th & Colorado is prepping for a 4th-floor concrete pour.

The buildings razed on 7th between Colorado and Lavaca will soon make way for the new UT System headquarters building.
