South Shore District Moves Forward with New Residents, Confirmed Retailers
It’s been nearly three months since the first residents moved into Grayco Partners’ first Austin property, South Shore District. Much like its East Riverside neighbors, AMLI South Shore and Lakeshore Pearl, South Shore District clearly appeals to the young crowd who want the downtown lifestyle minus the downtown hassle and price tag.
The luxury apartments are divided into three sections, Sections One, Two, and Three (nifty how that works), each section with its own different personality and differing amenities, like Two’s rooftop terrace and Three’s pond feature, giving residents a total of 36 different floor plans to choose from. All sections are still undergoing construction: One is still undergoing mostly interior work, while Two and Three are still under major construction. According to South Shore District’s Assistant Community Director April Delgado, they are planning on move-ins starting in February for Two and March for Three.
On top of bringing 506 residential units to the area, 85,000 square feet of mixed-use retail space will become the Shops at South Shore along Riverside Drive, an area that desperately needs more food and retail options to make the East Riverside Corridor Master Plan developed by the City of Austin a successful reality. So far confirmed retailers include Walgreens, an AT&T corporate office, Chipotle, Starbucks, and Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt, with many more to come, according to Delgado.
In addition to the retail and restaurant additions, Grayco Partners will provide some free space for community groups per their agreement with the city, according to Austin Business Journal. The first group confirmed for the new location is the Austin Music Foundation, which will use the new site for a creative media center, workshops, events, and collaborations with other community partners.
